The Veterans Service Office helps veterans and their families to obtain the benefits and services to which they are entitled, including:

  • compensation for service-connected disabilities;
  • pension for veterans with wartime service (based on financial need);
  • dependents indemnity compensation (DIC) for surviving spouses, dependent children or dependent parents;
  • VA health care;
  • vocational rehabilitation;
  • burial and death benefits;
  • college fee waiver program for dependents;
  • volunteer prescription refill program for military retirees (707-565-5961)

Bereavement Counseling

The Vet Center Program was established by Congress in 1979. They are community based and part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The goal of the Vet Center Program is to provide a broad range of counseling, outreach and referral services to eligible veterans in order that they might make a satisfying post-war readjustment to civilian life.

The State of California offers resources specific to vets employment. The EDD takes its commitment to the men and women who faithfully served our nation in the military seriously. Veterans receive priority in job and training referrals and other employment-related services.


NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER

Military Personnel Records, 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63132.

The NPRC is the repository for military discharges, service medical and personnel records and other related documents. Military veterans or next-of-kin may order records online. Otherwise, to secure military records, discharge, or DD-214, you must complete Standard Form 180 available at the Sonoma County Veterans Service Office.
